Abstract

There are crude drug, herbal medicine, crude drug preparation, herbal medicinal preparation, natural product, botanical drug (herbal medicinal product) in herbal medicine-associated preparations in pharmacy. By the way, the co-administration of licorice (Glycyrrhizae Radix) -containing preparations and some diuretics (Potassium depleting diuretics) may increase the risk of hypokalemia, and the coadministration of ephedra (Ephedrae Herba)- containing preparations and sympathomimetic drugs may result in tachycardia. Concurrent use of some herbal medicinal preparations and anticoagulant may increase the risk of bleeding and concurrent use of other herbal medicinal preparations and CYP450 metabolized drug may result in diminished effects or increased side effects. Some constituents contained in botanical drug are rich in potassium, so it should be administered cautiously with potassium level increasing drugs.
