Background: After the branch of Korean Association Against Drug Abuse was established in Gyeonggi Province, the prevention education for drugs and addictive drugs was conducted for teenagers and the general public every year. It is conducting a publicity campaign to prevent drug abuse, counseling services, treatment, rehabilitation, and drug abuse. Objective: The purpose of this study was to obtain the data for prevention education and treatment, rehabilitation and various policies in the future through identification and characteristics of narcotics and drug abuse in daily life of Gyeonggi Province. Method: We conducted surveys of participants in local festivals and publicity campaigns such as health festivals, art festivals, and fairs held in each region of Gyeonggi Province for 2016, and conducted a large-scale study of 5308 people. Results: The public perception of drug abuse and drug side effects has improved and that the drug has a serious impact not only on physical and psychological side effects but also on society as a whole. The need for intervention in the treatment process by specialist agencies and the importance of preventive action by the social safety net have been emphasized. Conclusion: In order to meet the needs of local residents and fulfill their social role as a therapeutic rehabilitation and preventive education institution, we propose the following: Promotion of public relations projects through cyber space and on-site campaign; to develop specialized programs to help the institution to treat, rehabilitate and return to the community.
