Since the publication of the 7-star pharmacist, which is the seven roles that pharmacists should have by both the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) in 1997, the role of ‘researchers’ is informally added. Professionalism means diversity, but as today's advanced knowledge-based society, professionals need to be up-to-date in their field of specialization, have a high level of competency to perform, and have an enhanced professional attitude and ethical awareness as experts. In particular, as evidencebased medicine (EBM) thinking and execution systems established in the latter half of the 20th century are gradually spreading to all fields of healthcare science, pharmacists are also emphasizing the ability to conduct research and write papers. In the 4th Industrial Revolution era, there are many predictions that the pharmacist's proficiency will be threatened. It is very meaningful to the pharmacist to steadily equip high mental ability that is difficult to imitate or replace easily by machine or computer. Therefore, I thought that it would be effective to spread accumulation experience of related knowledge, methodology, and result of trial and error by using periodical published journal about pharmacists. In order to facilitate the study of pharmacists in the clinical field and to acquire the methodology necessary for the preparation of the thesis, the methodology of research and writing should be published for the next several times. In this issue, I will introduce the factors that the thesis should have, the classification system, and how to write a research plan.
