Conflicts with patients due to misrepresentation by pharmacists are one of the biggest stressors in the pharmacy management process. Medication errors are preventable mistakes that can result in improper use of medicines due to human error by medical professionals, patients or consumers. And dispensing error is a kind of medication error. The pharmacy department of each university hospital and the large-scale retail pharmacies have prepared various safety regulations for the prevention of medication errors, but it is difficult to thoroughly prepare pharmacies even if the advanced dispensing system is applied to the small-sized retail pharmacies. Therefore, this study proposes the ‘Medication Error Prevention Manual’ that can be easily applied in the community pharmacies, and suggests a method that can be utilized in the nationwide computer network used by the working pharmacists in Korea.
